Ending PPH-related morbidity and mortality: a new global Toolkit for implementing the Consolidated PPH Guidelines

Session Information

On 5 October 2025, the landmark Consolidated guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of postpartum haemorrhage (PPH)-featuring 51 actionable recommendations that underscore the urgent need for earlier detection and faster intervention-was launched in Cape Town. The global MNH community must now implement these recommendations to achieve the ambitious goals outlined in the 2023 Global Roadmap to combat PPH. To support implementation, FIGO, ICM, Jhpiego, UNFPA and WHO developed an Implementation Guide and Toolkit designed specifically to help policymakers and programme managers translate recommendations into policy and practice. Developed through extensive stakeholder consultation, the Guide provides a structured approach that accommodates local context while maintaining fidelity to evidence based recommendations, with specific guidance for humanitarian and complex emergency settings. In this session, the partners will launch the Implementation Guide and accompanying Toolkit – presenting its various practical tools and discussing how the new Guidelines can be integrated into health systems.
