Despite global progress, equitable access to essential, quality-assured MNH commodities remains limited due to fragmented procurement, regulatory bottlenecks, high costs, and chronic underfunding. This satellite session will examine why newly recommended MNH products-such as medicines for postpartum haemorrhage, pre-eclampsia diagnostics, and newborn care tools-take decades to reach scale. It will identify practical measures across the value chain to fast-track access, including regulatory harmonization, pooled procurement, demand aggregation, and regional manufacturing. Showcasing initiatives such as SafeBirth Africa, SADC Pooled Procurement Services, Africa Pooled Procurement Mechanism or the MNCH Accelerator, the session will highlight successful country experiences, ongoing and emerging partnerships among African institutions, donors, UN agencies, and the private sector. Through dialogue and exchange of experiences, participants will identify sustainable solutions and concrete opportunities for increasing cross institutional coordination that can accelerate national and regional access to life-saving MNH commodities.
